All the questions you wanted to ask about THE YIN TRIBE but were afraid to ask !

Life has changed for us all over the last couple of months affecting us all in various ways .... you don't need to read a long blog about how it has affected us at The Yin Tribe, or how our mental health is suffering { or in some cases being boosted } as this Pandemic is a different experience for us all, young and old and everything we need to do, say, write and experience is right. Do what you believe is the right thing for you to do ....

At the Yin Tribe we have been striving to continue our classes, through the magic of Zoom, and have doubled the classes each week. Offering CALM - PEACEFUL - SOOTHING classes for our students to take with them through this moment of pause. And it really is a pause - slowly and surely over the next few months things will begin to resume to normal and we will all have our unique 'lock-down' stories of fun, laughter and re-discovering old friendships.

Whilst in 'lock-down' we are reaching out to parents and guardians, and really anybody who feels they need that extra care and support. So I dedicate this blog to them ....

WHAT ON EARTH IS YIN ???????

Yin is a slow paced style of yoga with asanas that are held for longer periods of time. The class is mat based and students of all abilities are able to share and connect with themselves to find their inner calm and happiness. This is a particularly calming experience during lock-down as you attend the class via Zoom and experience the class from the comfort of your home.

Yin also offers the most amazing benefits for everyone who maybe struggling with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, work and home life pressure and those who wish to have a special ‘pause’ in their busy lives.

RELAX | REST | RESET yourself for the coming week ahead.

The benefits are endless

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Calm and balance mind and body

  • Increase focus and concentration

  • Uplift and create a positive mindset

Yin restores your mind and body’s balance and well-being.

We asked our Founder, Suzy, how The Yin Tribe came about ...... {obviously observing social distancing !}

HOW HAS YOGA INFLUENCED YOU ?

I came to my mat over 10 years ago. From running a successful Theatre School for over 10 years, whilst maintaining a busy home life, I walked into The Yoga Studio, Cheltenham Pilates & Yoga when my daughter's friends waved at her, whilst waiting for his children yoga class to start. My daughter joined in the lesson and whilst waiting for her I noticed how peaceful and quiet the studio was, the powerful sense of calm and well-being, and being nosey I decided to join in one of the adult lessons. I BECAME HOOKED !!!! Having suffered from horrendous sleep patterns and nightmares, leading to high anxiety, I found that through Yoga my mind became calm and focussed during the class and I always left with a feeling of positively and well-being !

HOW DID THIS CHANGE YOU ?

After practising for another 8 years, a seed began to form in my mind. I felt I needed to expand and take the next step forward in my 'yogi life'. It was like a calling, a vocation, something that deep inside my soul told me to do.

"High on the air there is a calling

Calling deep and wild for thee"

In 2018 I embarked on a 200HR Yoga Teaching Training Course, with Orange Yoga in Cheltenham and successfully graduated In October 2018. The training gave me the confidence to expand and deepen my knowledge, once certified I sat down and thought about what areas I wanted to teach. I knew I didn't want to travel from yoga studio to yoga studio teaching the same classes, but still did not have an idea as to what.

WHERE DID THE IDEA OF THE YIN TRIBE COME FROM ?

In April 2019 I enrolled onto the Teen Yoga 100H Course, which was led by the Teen Yoga Foundation's founder Charlotta Martinus, and a spark was ignited. After becoming increasingly concerned over the mental health of young people I realised that I could combine my Teen Yoga knowledge with my Yin Yoga to create a new class which would enable young people to

RELAX REST RESET

The word 'tribe' means 'a distinctive or close-knit group' something that is at the top of our ethos at The Yin Tribe, to provide a close-knit group of young people, in a safe, calm and nurturing environment, where they can quieten the monkey chatter in their mind {which is often negative and oppressive} and help them develop the skills to cope with their life-skills in this increasingly busy online technical world.

HOW HAS LOCK-DOWN AFFECTED YOUR CLASSES ?

Simple ! We moved online. We expanded the weekly classes and are now teaching from the comfort of our own living rooms directly to the students in their homes. My students found that practising at home meant they were in their safe environment and could completely relax and experience the magic of Yin. This has been a powerful tool for the students who have literally had their lives crash around them due to the Pandemic.

Many students have had important exams cancelled whilst others have struggled with home-schooling and living with family members 24/7. They have found themselves increasingly more anxious and depressed and unable to cope with the restriction of not seeing friends ... their out-of-'routine timetable' triggering low self-esteem, anxiety and depression as well as a feeling of isolation and loneliness. Through our online classes we have been able to address all these aspects and offer a sense of normality throughout the past few weeks..

I am also delighted to announce that I have opened up the classes to parents and guardians who also need grounding, nurturing and de-stressing during these turbulent times.

AND THE FUTURE ?

Our future is just beginning - as the world changes and adapts so will we -

The rest is just beginning .....

At The Yin Tribe we value each beautiful soul without judgement or criticism, it is all inclusive and accessible to every young person and their families in their hour of need.

"Once you decide to see the joy in life, you health will change, your relationships will change, and you'll discover how truly amazing you are"

Keep Safe

NAMASTE

xoxo
